The two pieces provide different forms within one individual setting.

 

The Zerka Plate has a broad central surface surrounded by rising walls. It provides more containment than a flat plate while retaining the open structure of an individual plate.

 

The Zephyr Bowl is deeper. Its greater height and inward volume suit meals that mix, carry sauce or benefit from a more contained form.

 

Together, they create one plate-and-bowl pairing without adding pieces intended primarily for shared serving.

 

 

The Essential Place Setting is the smallest ready-made combination in the collection. It is organised around one individual setting and provides a direct starting point for someone choosing between Chmissa’s plate and bowl forms for the first time.

 

The two pieces do not need to be used together at every meal. They provide separate options according to the food being served and the degree of openness or containment required.

 

This is not a conventional place setting containing side plates, cups, cutlery or mechanically matching components. It contains the exact two ceramic forms listed above.

 

 

The Zerka Plate and Zephyr Bowl belong to the same body of work, but they are not mechanically identical objects.

 

Chmissa builds and marks every piece by hand. Differences may therefore appear in diameter, outline, wall height, depth, surface texture, tonal distribution, line placement and the execution of bird, fish and geometric motifs.

 

These differences occur within recognisable product forms. They do not mean that one product may be substituted for another.

Chmissa makes both pieces in this setting at her home in Sejnane.

 

She prepares and shapes the clay directly by hand without using a potter’s wheel. She also participates in the marking, drying and outdoor firing stages through which each plate and bowl acquires its final form and surface.

 

Birds, fish, lines, triangles and repeated geometric arrangements appear across her pottery. These motifs form part of Chmissa’s visual language without functioning as a fixed code in which every mark has one predetermined meaning.

Wash each piece by hand and dry it thoroughly.

 

Avoid prolonged soaking and sudden changes in temperature. Do not place the ceramics in a dishwasher, microwave, oven, freezer, on a stovetop or over direct flame.

 

Store the pieces securely. If one is placed inside the other, use suitable protection between their surfaces and make sure they cannot shift.
